Shopify Flow
Triggers when documents are generated, sent, downloaded or printed, and actions that send, generate, fetch a URL, post a PDF, tag or set metafields.
Triggers
Invoice Generated, Invoice Sent, Invoice Send Failed, Invoice Downloaded, Invoice Printed, Invoice Generation Failed, Automation Skipped, and Invoice Email Delivered / Bounced / Complained. Each has an Estimate twin for draft orders. Invoice triggers carry the order; estimate triggers carry the draft order id and name as text.
Actions
Send Invoice, Generate Invoice, Send Invoice to Additional Email (up to 5 addresses), Get Invoice URL (a 15-minute download URL), Post PDF to URL, Tag Order Invoice Sent and Set Order Invoice Metafield, plus their Estimate twins.
A step that stays "pending" for a moment
Generating or emailing a PDF can take longer than the few seconds Flow allows an action to answer. The app accepts the step immediately and reports it complete once the PDF or email is done, usually within a minute or two. The following steps run after that, so a Get Invoice URL step always finds the PDF.
Example workflow
- Trigger: Order paid.
- Condition: order tag contains
wholesale. - Action: Send Invoice.
- Action: Tag Order Invoice Sent.
Keep one Send action per workflow; two Send steps on the same event email the customer twice.
