The Template Editor
Customize a theme into your own template: a visual Preview mode with per-block settings and inline text editing, and a Code mode for Liquid, HTML and CSS.
Creating a custom template
On Templates, hover a theme and choose Customize. The app copies the theme into a template you own and opens the editor. Custom templates can be duplicated, renamed, set active or deleted; deleting the active one falls back to the theme it came from.
Preview mode
- Click any block on the canvas to open its settings on the right: columns, labels, striping, borders, what to show and hide.
- Switch on Edit Text to edit labels directly on the page. Order values show their Liquid variable on hover with a copy button.
- Add Block inserts Free Text, Divider, Custom Liquid or Metafields blocks between the structural ones.
- The sample order picker renders the template against one of your real orders (a draft order for estimate templates).
- With no block selected, the right panel shows the theme settings.
Code mode
Two tabs, the Liquid/HTML and the CSS, with syntax highlighting and a live preview that re-renders as you type. A Liquid error shows a banner and keeps the last good render on screen; Save and Publish stay disabled until the error is fixed.
Saving and publishing
Save keeps your edits on the template; Publish saves and makes it the active template for that document type. A template can be Draft or Published, and Active or not; both badges show on the Templates page.
Labels and languages
A label edit in the editor writes the shop-wide wording for the language the canvas shows (English on every plan; other languages on Large Business and above), so it applies to every template printed in that language. Below that plan a non-English label stays on the template you are editing. A label you customised on the template itself keeps winning; Reset Labels in Template Settings → Language clears it. See Languages.
