Estimates for draft orders

Quote from a draft order with its own numbering, a validity statement and payment terms; the estimate links to the invoice once the order is placed.

Creating an estimate

  1. Create the draft order in Shopify as usual.
  2. In the app open Draft Orders and use the row's print, email or download action, or use More actions → Send Estimate / Download Estimate on the draft order in your Shopify admin.

What is different from an invoice

  • Estimates use the Estimate tab of Templates, with the same five themes.
  • They have their own numbering sequence, EST-{YYYY}-{seq} by default, set under Settings → Document Numbering → Estimate.
  • The Validity block prints the "not a tax invoice, prices valid until" statement; the Payment Terms block can print an advance / balance split from a percentage you choose. Both are edited on the theme's preview or in the Template Editor.
  • Shopify fires no "paid" or "fulfilled" event for a draft, so estimate automation triggers on draft order created or edited only.

When the draft becomes an order

The app links the estimate to the new order's invoice. Both documents stay; each order page shows "Created from" or "Converted to" with a link to the other.

Customer-facing limits

Estimates are never customer-accessible through download links or the checkout block. Those are for invoices only.
